Tetyana Gladisheva, Youth Business Ukraine Programme Manager took part in a discussion of consequences of economic crisis in Ukraine initiated by the Open Society Institute Anti-Crisis Programme (New-York – Budapest) and International Renaissance Foundation.
During this meeting experts identified crisis developments affected different categories of the population in regions of Ukraine and made proposals regarding activities of the Anti-Crisis Programme to mitigate effects of the crisis.
Tetyana Gladisheva presented vision and proposals on alleviating crisis impact on the youth of Ukraine including via applying SESP experience in creating social enterprises, developing entrepreneurial skills of schoolchildren and Youth Business Ukraine Programme (YBU). We think that YBU could be successfully used in the current situation. Peculiar feature of the YBU is a complex support provided to vulnerable young people in starting-up own business. Such young people are provided with the range of services including training in business planning, small loans on beneficial terms and regular support from experienced businessmen – mentors. YBU has already proved its efficiency. Since its creation 96 young people started own businesses, they created 50 additional jobs, they support 173 dependents. YBU has been completely worked out in Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts and is ready to be implemented in any region of Ukraine.
