Three winners of the Rural Women Business Plan Award were presented at the official ceremony in Donetsk (Ukraine) in February. The Competition was initiated to encourage rural women into business. Today rural entrepreneurship is one of those niches that may ensure decent life to young women in Ukraine. But community doesn’t see a woman as an entrepreneur, especially in rural areas. To change the status of a rural woman and show that a woman may be a successful private entrepreneur making her input into economic development of her community SESP conducted the Competition among rural women for the best business plan within the framework of Rural Women Entrepreneurship Development in Donbass Project funded by the Finnish Embassy in Ukraine.
The intrigue remained till the moment when three winners were announced by YBU Board member Marina Cherenkova. Rural Women Business Plan Awards were won by Olga Grebeniuk, Rimma Bondarenko, Anastasiya Petrova with their ideas of green tourism business, ceramic products production and mobile hairdresser services for remote villages. Winners of this competition received grants to implement their ideas.
