Youth Business Ukraine (YBU) is a member of the international network of Youth Business International (YBI) programmes which help young people to become entrepreneurs by offering then mentor support and seed capital. This international initiative has been now operating in 40 countries under the Presidency of HRH The Prince of Wales.
Specific feature of the Programme is assistance to young people who wish to start up own businesses but have no own funds and opportunities to apply to banks or other financial structures of Ukraine. YBU offers such young people not only loans without collateral or guarantors but also assistance in business planning, regular support of mentors – representatives of business community - at all stages of business start-up and development.
YBU was launched in 2006 in four pilot areas of Luhansk region: town of Krasnodon, town of Severodonetsk, Perevalskiy and Kremenskoy raions. Since July 2007 YBU has been working in three more pilot areas of Donetsk region town of Torez, Telmanovskiy and Dobropolskiy raions.
In order to ensure transperancy of the decision-making on provision of loans to young entrepreneurs, Experts Panels consisting of famous and authoritative people of the region presenting business, society and local government are created in every pilot area of the Programme. Panel members make decisions on crediting based on their knowledge and experience of local conditions, local market.
Since its launch YBU has provided support to 92 young people for the total amount of UAH 1,447,123.00.
YBU operation is coordinated by the Central Office located in Donetsk. Local offices operate in pilot areas. Local Coordinators provide support to young entrepreneurs from the moment when they apply to the Programme for the first time till the final repayment of the loan.
SESP obtained international accreditation in 2007 and meets all requirements and standards of the Youth Business International.
